PinnacleHealth Selects Salar for Electronic Physician Documentation

Harrisburg Hospital and Community General Hospital to Implement Salar’s TeamNotes and TAP Charge Capture Products

BALTIMORE – October 27, 2010 – Salar, Inc., an electronic clinical documentation solutions provider, announced today that it has signed an agreement with PinnacleHealth System, a leading hospital and healthcare system in central Pennsylvania, to implement its TeamNotesTM and TAP Charge CaptureTM solutions in two of its hospital campuses. The solutions will allow Harrisburg Campus and Community General Campus to eliminate paper-based documentation and enable full electronic documentation and charge capture.

“We are excited to work in a market that is driven by a large number of community physicians where physician satisfaction is a true differentiator for our hospital customer” said Todd Johnson, president, Salar, Inc. “By working with PinnacleHealth, we will not only have the opportunity to help its hospitals achieve a more complete and useful electronic medical record, but to also give an entire community of private physicians solutions that will increase their productivity and bottom line.”

TeamNotesTM is Salar’s clinical documentation tool that allows clinicians to create medical notes, such as daily progress notes, admission notes and discharge notes electronically on desktops, laptops and tablet-style computers, eliminating the use of paper and the need to transcribe information by hand. As a physician creates electronic notes during a patient encounter, the TAP Charge CaptureTM solution automatically abstracts billing codes and sends them to the billing department in real time, leading to more accurate billing cycles and optimizing revenues for both the hospital and the physician’s practice. Both solutions are designed to integrate seamlessly with PinnacleHealth’s existing electronic medical record (EMR) system.

“Not only will TeamNotes and TAP Charge Capture help PinnacleHealth achieve our meaningful use goals, we believe we will be better positioned to move Pinnacle’s inpatient environment toward being paperless. In addition, our private community physicians will also now receive a more complete, accurate and
simplified billing process improving efficiency within their practice’s operations as a direct result of their clinical documentation,” said Steven Roth, VP Informatics and chief information officer at PinnacleHealth. “We were surprised by the enthusiasm of our physicians when they were exposed to Salar’s products and we are excited to be able to supply them with tools that will help them be more efficient in delivering care within our hospitals while also positively affecting their business operations.”

Implementation of TeamNotes and TAP Charge Capture will begin immediately at both Harrisburg Campus and Community General Campuses and is expected to take about four months to complete. PinnacleHealth plans to complete deployment of the solutions across its entire acute care environment in the next 24 months.
