Software Engineer


Summary

Under indirect supervision, implement software based upon written specification and other documents. Assist in requirements gathering and analysis of use cases and business rules by working directly with customers to ensure that requirements are well defined. Create technical documentation for both the design and implementation of projects. Perform unit and integration testing of project and assist in the rollout and implementation of software at client locations.


Responsibilities

  • Implements software solutions based upon written specifications and other documents
  • Creates design and implementations of class hierarchy, database, infrastructure, and other aspects of solutions to be built and writes technical documentation describing design
  • Interacts with customers to ensure that project requirements are well defined and implemented in accordance with customer expectations
  • Performs unit and integration tests on projects to ensure reliable, error-free execution

Applicant Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 2+ years experience in software engineering utilizing skills described below
  • 5+ years professional and full software-lifecycle experience
  • 2+ years development experience with lower-level languages such as C and C++
  • 2+ years development experience with higher level, object oriented languages such as C# or Java (PERL, PHP, Python or Ruby are a plus)
  • Preferred: C++, C# and the Microsoft .Net Framework
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Experience with views, stored procedures, user-defined functions, etc.
  • Will accept experience with other RDBMS systems such as Oracle and Sybase
  • Working knowledge of HTML, HTTP, XML, and web-based technologies
